Chasing the real benefit
When creating a solution together with our Customers, the most important thing for Net Group is to understand the real benefit our Customer receives from the solution. This means that we have to interpret Customer’s business strategy into our agile language. Actually, the strategic view prevails during the whole process and for this purpose, we have invented Net Group’s 7-step process that is a proven framework for Customer success.
Step 1 – Understanding the Client
It is essential to understand the Customer’s business when creating a good solution. Our first step includes mapping Customer’s business using Business Model Canvas methodology. Doing that we understand our Customers’ business goals in depth.
As a result of the phase, we should have an answer to the following question – why? What is the reason our Customer’s business exists, why does our Customer need the solution? What are the business goals?
The reason behind the needed solution could be being the best in the world, cutting costs, raising efficiency, saving time, better customer satisfaction or something entirely else. We want to figure out, what is our Customer’s end-goal and work towards that together.
After we have answer for „WHY?“, it is easy to decide WHAT solution should be delivered and HOW we do it.
Step 2 – IT environment overview
We’re ready to start developing, right? Not quite yet! During our second step, we dedicate ourselves to understanding the current situation more in depth – we compile an IT environment assessment.
Here we observe Customer’s current IT environment more in depth. We analyze the existing IT environment of the Client so that no surprises arise in the steps that follow. We map the existing information systems setup, the architecture, used technologies, integrations, security, networks and administration model used.
As a result of this phase, we have an understanding of the sustainability of existing IT environment in terms of future challenges. We also figure out, which changes are necessary to match the strategic objectives of Customer’s business.
Step 3 – Avatar description
The end-users are the key factors for success. During our third step, we find out, who are the typical “Avatars” as main users. We analyze their demographic characteristics, computer skills, their current experience with software and their willingness for future prospective challenges. We focus on both the internal and external users of the systems.
As a result of this phase, we will have the typical “Avatars” described with their aspirations, their current skills, readiness for change and development and we take into consideration the risks related. We also compile analyzes in terms of future skills and training needs needed.
Step 4 – Story mapping
Our fourth step is Story Mapping, which is basically an as-is/to-be analysis. We analyze the step-by-step flow of current existing processes and draw up a “what could be done instead” to-be model. Our brilliant design-team has mastered the skill of business process redesign and we’re able to figure out, which steps in your current existing process create value, which should be done differently and which could be left out altogether.
We visually describe the future business processes, bringing out the business outcomes for each process. As a result of story mapping, together with our Customer, we have created a vision of how the future solution could help our Customer reach its goals.
Every Customer wants to see the possible outcome with their own eyes and the sooner the better. In order to meet the expectations of our Customers, we develop and deliver either a clickable prototype, ROI analysis, model in Excel or something tangible that proves to our Customer that we understand the challenge and the business objectives.
As a result of this phase, our Customer can have some peace of mind or evaluate other possible investments to develop their business further on.
During the sixth phase, the entire project will be planned carefully together with the Customer. Our sixth step includes capacity building, organizational development aspects, IT infrastructure development, people training aspects, internal communication, technology development and transfer.
As a result of this phase, we arrange a detailed investment and delivery plan with responsibilities, preconditions, due dates, risk management and agreed results with our Customer.
Step 7 – Delivery
Our final step is by far the most fulfilling – creating and delivering the project and therefore enabling our Customer to carry out their business goals. Creating the solution takes time, so this phase could last the longest – all depending on the capacity of the project. This step is only successful if the previous 6 steps have been kept in mind. Result of this step? Desired business results and satisfied Customer.
