Leaving Microsoft and joining Net Group
Microsoft Oy’s Chief Technology Officer Aki Siponen will join Net Group Nordic as project director in September of 2017. In Finland, Net Group has so far focused on customer management and billing solutions in energy and utilities sector. Our customers include Kerava Energy Oy and Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority HSY. Net Group’s Finnish subsidiary was founded in 2014.
Reasons behind the change
“I’ve been following the development of Net Group’s business closely. Good spirit, philosophy of collaboration and skills as well as ability to understand customer business problems and come up with solutions they really need are topics that really inspire me. I’m happy to return to the energy sector but first and foremost, this is about the possibility to again work with my spouse Heli Siponen, who is Net Group country manager in Finland.” stated Aki Siponen.
He added, “I will also be able to participate in the strategic development of the company and ensure profitable growth of Net Group. Furthermore, Microsoft in Finland is in a good position. Many of the topics I’ve been a part of, are moving forward. I feel that now is a time when I can move forward, too. During my years at Microsoft, a lot has happened and I’ve enjoyed every moment tremendously. I’ll miss the community and my colleagues and the sparkling strength which is so rare in organizations.”
A valuable addition to the team
“We in Net Group are happy to welcome Aki in our team. He has proven to be a very valuable strategic thinker and we are looking forward to working with him to take our actions in the Finnish market to a next level” said Priit Kongo, the CEO of Net Group.
